Stars of ‘Knick,’ ‘Sherlock,’ ‘Grimm,’ others tweet about their Satellite Noms

All over the world, celebrities, agents, directors and fans have Tweeted about their nominations for the International Press Academy that came out this week, and have some unusual choices among them.

The global group of critics is one of the few that mixes international and domestic reviewers, and they often feature choices that are overlooked by other award shows, says President Mirjana Van Blaricom, of Sherman Oaks, Calif. where the headquarters of the organization is based.

“We see everything, so we appreciate everything, and we try to give honors to the best, not just what everyone else will be honoring, too,” Van Blaricom says.

For example, Canadian actress Anne Dorval was delighted about her Best Actress nod for “Mommy.” She’s up against established Academy Award favorites such as Rosamund Pike, Julianne Moore, Reese Witherspoon and Marion Cotillard, but now her nomination gives her a boost of extra encouragement and credit.

Noted French personality Cédric Succivalli Tweeted that he was thrilled that the French language movie was up for Best International film as well, writing “Congratulations to Anne Dorval and ‪@XDolan for their Satellite nominations today. Here’s hoping for a terrific awards season for MOMMY.”

Membership of the Press Academy is worldwide, so it’s not surprising that the Tweets have gone out in Russian, Japanese, Polish, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Chinese and more.

There were also some accolades for off-beat nominations, such as Andy Serkis for Best Supporting Actor in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” He is the actor who also did a motion-capture performance for the role of Golem in the “Lord of the Rings” movies and there was a big Oscar campaign for him, but it never materialized.

For example, filmmakers were thrilled about their “Red Army” documentary being singled out for a nomination. “Thank you to ‪@SatelliteAwards for nominating us for Best Documentary! We are overjoyed!! “
