International Press Academy
welcomes Telekom Serbia as a Sponsor

The International Press Academy is proud to welcome Telekom Serbia as an official sponsor of the 12th Annual Satellite Awards and a joint underwriter of the Tesla Award in Recognition for Visionary Achievements in Filmmaking Technology.

Serbian-born Nikola Tesla is credited with developing the foundation for wireless technology, among his many other breakthroughs in electrical engineering and the many patents for mechanical inventions he created.

Telekom Serbia celebrates the innovations of Tesla and continues to connect the many voices and lives of its citizens at home and abroad.

From a historical perspective, Serbia's aspiration to connect with Europe in the shortest possible time was conditional upon development of the international and then the national telegraphic traffic. On March 15, 1855 telegraph traffic was officially put into operation.

The first telephone line was installed in Belgrade in 1883 only eight years after Alexander Graham Bell had invented the first telephone set. The capacity of telephone exchange was 50 lines. National long-distance telephone network was established between Belgrade and Niš during the ceasefire in the First War between Serbia and Bulgaria.

Introduction of telegraph and telephone traffic, and later radio-telegraphy and radio-telephony as well as development of mobile telephony and paging system connected Yugoslavia with the world telecommunications network.

With changes in the former Yugoslavia, and the break-up of the territory, Telekom Serbia has emerged as a progressive telecommunications organization connecting its citizens throughout the world.

Telekom Serbia provides:

  • All kinds of fixed telecommunications services
  • Data transmission services, telematic services, value-added services, ISDN services, intelligent network services, fixed satellite services, fixed services using DECT standard, the Internet services, multimedia services
  • Mobile telephony services
  • Maintenance and repair of telecommunications facilities and network
