International Press Academy Honors Tom Skerritt with its prestigious Mary Pickford Award

Los Angeles, CA – The International Press Academy (IPA) is proud to name actor Tom Skerritt as the recipient of one of its highest honors, the “Mary Pickford Award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to the Entertainment Industry” at the 26th Annual Satellite™Awards.

“For over fifty years, Tom Skerritt has been captivating audiences worldwide. The acclaimed actor has left an indelible mark on the medium, having crafted some of film and television’s most memorable characters. Skerritt is known for iconic roles in films like M.A.S.H., The Turning PointUp In Smoke, The Dead Zone, Top Gun, Steel Magnolias, A River Runs Through It, Singles, The Rookie, Contact, Smoke Signals, and of course, Ridley Scott’s Alien.

For his work in the 1993 -97 CBS series Picket Fences, he was recognized with the Primetime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.”

Also,for the year 2021, Tom Skerritt is nominated for a Satellite™ Award in the category “Actor in a Motion Picture Drama” for his work as Ben Givens in East of the Mountains. The movie is also nominationed in the category “Motion Picture Drama.””

Skerritt joins the esteemed ranks of previous Mary Pickford honorees that include Ellen Burstyn, Kathy Bates, Arnon Milchan, Martin Landau, Gena Rowlands, Vanessa Williams, Robert Evans, Karl Malden, Francis Ford Coppola, Maximilian Schell, Allan J. Pakula, Jodie Foster, Rod Steiger, Susan Sarandon, Mitzi Gaynor, Edward James Olmos, Mike Medavoy, Terence Stamp, Richard Donner, Louise Fletcher, Stacy Keach and Tilda Swinton among others.
