The International Press Academy Reschedules the Date for the 26th Annual Satellite™ Awards presentation

LOS ANGELES, CA  The International Press Academy IPA reschedules the date for the 26th AnnualSatellite™ Awards presentation to April 2, 2022.

The IPA was the first major association to announce its nominations. They were announced on December 1, 2021. Now it will close the awards season with a live in-person ceremony on April 2, 2022.

The 26th Honorary Satellite Award recipient will be presented to Jenifer Lewis.

Dubbed a National Treasure and a force to be reckoned with, multi-award-winning actress Jenifer Lewis starred on ABC’s Black-ish for eight seasons as the hilarious grandmother Ruby Johnson. Ms. Lewis has appeared in over 400 episodic television shows, 68 films, 40 animated works, and 4 Broadway shows. Her credits include: The Fresh Prince of Bel-AirFriendsA Different WorldTwentiesCastawayWhat’s Love Got to Do with It, Think Like a ManMadea’s Family ReunionStrong MedicineThe Princess and the FrogMickey Mouse FunhouseRugratsCars 1,2 and 3American Dad, and Hairspray.  Her  autobiography, The Mother Of Black Hollywood, became a chart-topper and a national best seller in 2017.

Ms. Lewis has performed in more than 200 concerts worldwide including sold out shows at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Her accomplishments as an entertainer, community activist and author have been recognized with an honorary doctorate from her alma mater, Webster University and the Career Achievement Award from The American Black Film Festival.

This year, Ms. Lewis will begin a new television series, I Love That for You on Showtime. She will also be receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this summer.

Ms. Lewis joins the previous Honorary Satellite recipients including Carl Reiner, Bruce Davidson, Murray Weissman  among the others.

The International Press Academy selects Satellite™ Awards nominees from domestic and international submissions for 35 categories: 22 Motion Picture and 13 Television. Nominations are derived from advance screenings at film festivals worldwide (i.e. BAFTA, Cannes, Sundance, Telluride, TIFF), as well as consideration screeners sent to individual journalists and/or sanctioned links as available by the deadline.

Despite this difficult time of confinement to our members throughout the world, we believe we have come up with a comprehensive and representative list of nominees and deserving winners and look forward to presenting them in person.
